Earlier today on a 4 lane highway I passed a school bus with its stop sign out (I was in the next lane over from it). I cannot recall that any lights were flashing with it, and after I had passed a block it was moving again.
First of all I have felt so sick about it since it happened. I hate it when other people don’t take school bus stops seriously, then I go off and do that. If I am going to get a ticket, a fee, and/or increased insurance rates I would gladly do it in a heartbeat instead of holding the sole reason why a child is no longer here today. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
So my questions…
1.) How long would it take to receive anything about court date and/or fees?
2.) Would it be possible to receive anything? There were no other witnesses around, and I was honked at assuming it came from the bus.
3.) If the stop sign was activated does the warning lights also come on? As I said I don’t remember flashing lights, but that doesn’t mean it did not happen.
4.) If I am given a ticket that would put me 3 pts over my limit on my license. Prior to 2010 I had 10 years of a clean record. Since April 2010 this will be my 3rd violation which the first 2 I paid the ticket outright. (1st offense was out of county and I couldn’t make the court date to plead my case, 2nd I owned up to it) Would there be any chance to either take traffic school to lower point total, or plead my case to a judge to be on probationary status?
Sorry for the many questions, but I would like to ease my mind on this and see how others have been treated when caught.
